Taqueria El Tapatio is definitely those hole in a wall. I would pass by Saticoy and Fallbrook a lot and I would always be curious on how it tasted and what this place really is about.
Well my as of today I finally decided to take my curiosity for a test run. My brother and I decided we wanted some Mexican food like real Mexican food that isn't Americanized and I told him about this place since it would be our first time going and trying the food out in this store.
And let me tell you BEST DECISION we ever made.
The food is really tasty and you can just tell it's made freshly. We ordered the Super Nachos, Combo 3 Tacos, and Carne Asada it definitely filled up our stomach and will be definitely coming back for more.

I gave it 4 stars because of the pricing. Some of the item price can be a bit somewhat I guess overpriced, but tbh it kinda make sense since bet a lot of people just drive pass by or don't even notice a great Mexican store is nearby/ around the corner. The pricing isn't that much as overpriced just a bit, but if the food is great for that price then so be it.

This place is a hole in the wall.  I have driven by before and thought it's either gonna be really good or really bad. Today my daughter, her friend and I stopped by. Lots of parking. You can drive up and order at a window or park and walk up to a separate window. We ordered chicken nachos, beef taquitos, and a carnitas burrito. We ordered the food to go. Service was fast and friendly. We got our food and drove home. When we got home my daughter raved about the chicken on the nachos. I tried the chicken and it was really good. Seasoned well, grilled but not over cooked and dry. The taquitos were  wrapped separately from the rest of the dish. They packed rice, beans sour cream and guacamole in a to go container and the taquitos were wrapped in foil so the remained warm and crispy when we got home. That was a quality move. No soggy food!!! That was greatly appreciated. I had the burrito and the carnitas were legit. Crispy pieces and tender pieces, everything was seasoned perfectly and consistently. The rice and beans had great flavor on their own. The salsa and onions added a nice touch. The salsa verde was the bomb, not too spicy but great flavor.
A great meal and we will definitely be back.

I wasn't a huge fan of their tacos, I found them to be just average. Both Pastor, as well as the crispy tacos are OK and made quickly at a fair price but the meet was not very good quality and I didn't love there's also it' I wasn't a huge fan of their tacos, I found them to be just average. El Tapatio is one of those authentic hole-in-the-wall restaurants that gives my hometown character.  Even the menu is in Spanish, which comes with accompanying photos.  I also love the covered outdoor dining area, which even includes an antique of a television.

We were able to feed both of us for around $18, which is pretty good for LA. At this price point, I acknowledge that there's no way the restaurant can procure high-quality cuts of meats without having to take a loss, so it wasn't a surprise that the chicken in our tacos and burrito were dry, chewy, and a bit flavorless this time around.  We've been here before a couple of years back, and the meat was better seasoned last time.  Perhaps this time we came on an off-day.

It was a filling meal, so that makes it A-OK in my book.
